- EPHESIANS 6:10 –11,13-15 NLT
PEACE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF PROBLEMS; IT’S THE ADDITION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT’S POWER WITHIN THE PROBLEMS
15FOR SHOES, PUT ON THE PEACE THAT COMES FROM THE GOOD NEWS SO THAT YOU WILL BE FULLY PREPARED
The peace comes from the good news…what is the good news? It’s the promises of God.
Paul is telling us that we have to have a firm stance in our faith and spirituality if we want to have peace in our battles…let me say it this way… if you’re taking notes write this down:
THE SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION YOU HAVE GOING INTO THE BATTLE DETERMINES YOUR PEACE THROUGHOUT THE FIGHT.
DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM WITH YOU; DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD. I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU AND HELP YOU; I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY VICTORIOUS RIGHT HAND
1. WHO GOD IS
15 CHRIST IS THE VISIBLE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD. HE EXISTED BEFORE ANYTHING WAS CREATED AND IS SUPREME OVER ALL CREATION,[E]6 FOR THROUGH HIM GOD CREATED EVERYTHING IN THE HEAVENLY REALMS AND ON EARTH. HE MADE THE THINGS WE CAN SEE AND THE THINGS WE CAN’T SEE—SUCH AS THRONES, KINGDOMS, RULERS, AND AUTHORITIES IN THE UNSEEN WORLD. EVERYTHING WAS CREATED THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM. 17 HE EXISTED BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, AND HE HOLDS ALL CREATION TOGETHER.18 CHRIST IS ALSO THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY. HE IS THE BEGINNING, SUPREME OVER ALL WHO RISE FROM THE DEAD.[F] SO HE IS FIRST IN EVERYTHING.19 FOR GOD IN ALL HIS FULLNESS WAS PLEASED TO LIVE IN CHRIST,0 AND THROUGH HIM GOD RECONCILED EVERYTHING TO HIMSELF. HE MADE PEACE WITH EVERYTHING IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH BY MEANS OF CHRIST’S BLOOD ON THE CROSS.
“FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS THE ONE WHO GOES WITH YOU TO FIGHT FOR YOU AGAINST YOUR ENEMIES TO GIVE YOU VICTORY”
This same sovereign God that we just talked about goes WITH us to FIGHT FOR US against our enemies to give us a victory.
Can yall get excited about that today?
No matter what battle you’re in Deuteronomy says he GOES WITH YOU TO FIGHT FOR YOU! To give you victory….
2. WHO GOD THINKS WE ARE
“FOR WE ARE GOD’S MASTERPIECE. HE HAS CREATED US ANEW IN CHRIST JESUS, SO WE CAN DO THE GOOD THINGS HE PLANNED FOR US LONG AGO.”
“WE HAVE BECOME HIS POETRY, A RE-CREATED PEOPLE THAT WILL FULFILL THE DESTINY HE HAS GIVEN EACH OF US, FOR WE ARE JOINED TO JESUS, THE ANOINTED ONE. EVEN BEFORE WE WERE BORN, GOD PLANNED IN ADVANCE OUR DESTINY AND THE GOOD WORKS WE WOULD DO TO FULFILL IT”
IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE PURPOSE OF SOMETHING YOU WILL ABUSE IT
Let me tell you this:
LIFE WITHOUT PURPOSE IS TIME WITHOUT MEANING
3. IF YOU’RE STILL BREATHING GOD’S NOT DONE
PHILIPPIANS 1:6 “AND I AM CERTAIN THAT GOD, WHO BEGAN THE GOOD WORK WITHIN YOU WILL CONTINUE HIS WORK UNTIL IT IS FINALLY FINISHED ON THE DAY WHEN CRHIST JESUS RETURNS”
2 PETER 1:3 “BY HIS DIVINE POWER, GOD HAS GIVEN US EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIVING A GODLY LIFE. WE HAVE RECEIVED ALL OF THIS BY COMING TO KNOW HIM, THE ONE WHO CALLED US TO HIMSELF BY MEANS OF HIS MARVELOUS GLORY AND EXCELLENCE.”
3 AREAS SATAN MOST INTENSELY ATTACKS:
· YOUR MIND
· YOUR EMOTIONS
· YOUR WILL
The Lord is my shepherd I have all that I need. Psalms 23:1
So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting. James 4:7-8 TPT
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
WHAT GETS YOUR ATTENTION GETS YOUR HEART, AND THAT DETERMINES THE COURSE OF YOUR LIFE.
MISPLACED ATTENTION WILL LEAD TO A FALSE SENSE OF HAPPINESS.
HOW DO WE ALIGN OUR HEARTS?
1. PASSIONATELY PURSUE JESUS.
THE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU & WHAT YOU LOVE DETERMINES WHETHER YOU HAVE THE CAPACITY TO ALLOW SOMETHING TO SEPARATE YOU FROM WHAT YOU LOVE.
If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:15 NIV
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome…Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5:3;12 NIV
TEMPTATION OR COMPROMISE DOESN'T EXPOSE OUR WEAKNESSES IN WILL POWER, BUT THE WEAKNESSES IN OUR RELATIONSHIP.
INTIMACY WITH GOD IS WHAT PRODUCES INNOCENCE IN OUR LIVES.
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
2. OBEDIENCE LEADS TO A THRIVING RELATIONSHIP, NOT COMPLIANCE.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17 NIV
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. Luke 9:23-24
..and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. Matthew 6:12-13
** 1 degree of separation Slide **
3. MAKE THE COMMITMENT TO LEAVE THE PAST IN THE PAST.
But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62
I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead… Philippians 3:12-13
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life… Deuteronomy 30:19-20
INTIMACY IS A RESULT OF CONSISTENCY.
3 AREAS SATAN MOST INTENSELY ATTACKS:
You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. Mark 12:30
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:13-17
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV
DEMOLISHING THE STRONGHOLD OF THE MIND:
1. IDENTIFY THE STRONGHOLD
“Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.” 2 Timothy 2:26 NLT
“When he (the devil) lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 ESV
____ MATERIAL/FINANCIAL STRONGHOLD
____ ADDICTIVE/HABITUAL STRONGHOLD
____ PERSONAL/PHYSICAL STRONGHOLD
____ RELATIONAL STRONGHOLD
____ SPIRITUAL STRONGHOLD
2. IDENTIFY WHO YOU WANT TO BE.
“The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants...These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions... When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these... But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:17-22
THE MORE YOU PRAY AND READ THE BIBLE, THE MORE GOD’S CHARACTER RUBS OFF ON YOU!
“A wise man attacks the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust.” Proverbs 21:22 NIV
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 ESV
WE LIVE IN A PHYSICAL WORLD, AND A SPIRITUAL WORLD.
“The problem is most people overestimate or underestimate spiritual warfare. Funny how the devil likes when we over believe or under believe just don't bible believe” C.S. Lewis
4 TRUTHS ABOUT THIS SPIRITUAL BATTLE:
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
THIS REAL ENEMY WANTS TO DESTROY YOU.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11 NIV
2. WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BATTLE.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
THE DEVIL’S GOAL IS TO DIVIDE US.
Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart. Luke 11:17

The Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1 John 4:4
✓ THE HIGHEST AUTHORITY IS THE NAME OF JESUS.
When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy… Luke 10:17-19

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Romans 6:1-2
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
